Hip joint arthrosis

Hip joint arthrosis, i.e. the wear and tear of the hip joint, which usually becomes noticeable through hip and groin pain, as well as a gradual deterioration in mobility, can be tolerated by most affected patients for a certain period of time.

Conservative therapy approaches such as weight reduction, infiltration of medication or targeted mobility-maintaining exercise therapies can help to alleviate the symptoms for a certain period of time. However, if there has already been a significant reduction in quality of life due to pain and restricted movement, you should consult a specialist about the possibility of surgical treatment using a hip joint prosthesis.

Bursitis trochanterica:

Irritation or inflammation of the bursa over the large rolling mound at the level of the hip joint on the outside of the thigh is called bursits trochanterica.

In most cases, this condition can be cured with conservative measures. In rare cases of very persistent irritation, it may be necessary to remove the chronically inflamed bursa, if necessary to relieve the tractus iliotibialis that slides over it, or even to remove smaller disturbing bony attachments to the greater trochanter (greater malleolus) itself in order to eliminate the cause of the irritation.

The so-called “bursectomy” is one of the minor procedures and usually takes 10 to 15 minutes.
